My contribution
For eighteen months I led the VFX team on this project, kicking off with pivotal tests in LA and then leading our UK team to bring a realistic digital capuchin to life. I assembled the team, drove development of the CG asset and refined the pipeline for shot delivery.
The biggest hurdle was an uncanny resemblance to a real capuchin. We pioneered animation workflows for Gigi, including the first capuchin-specific FACS (Facial Action Coding System). The whole thing was delivered by a remote team at the height of COVID.
